The Hillcrest on Lake Wisconsin
The Hillcrest on Lake Wisconsin began as "The Oaks"
restaurant back in 1982. After a number of unsuccessful runs by
previous owners, the building was purchased by Thane Newman in
1999. Thane and his partner at the time, Terry Frosch, extensively
renovated the building and added the spacious deck overlooking the
lake. The Hillcrest opened for business in June of 1999. Through
trials and tribulations too numerous to mention the restaurant has
managed to survive and even thrive. Thane now owns the
establishment with his wife Lisa. They rely on their parents,
children, friends and other relatives for help and support to keep
things running smoothly.
Our casual atmosphere and friendly staff have won a loyal following
among both local residents and summer visitors. Our head chef,
Lucan Nelson, has been part of The Hillcrest since he was old
enough to work. He and our other staff strive to provide high
quality food and drinks in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere you
will truly enjoy.
